I have been painting for 45 years. In most of my work I have taken either the figure or landscape as my subject. A five year period in the early eighties when I worked exclusively in shades of gray notwithstanding, the high key color you see in these works has been a trademark approach. Beyond landscape and figure painting, I also work on a larger scale which could be described as metaphorical and archetypical in nature. Examples can be seen in the slideshow below. Rooted in expressionist, symbolist, and visionary traditions, this sort of work reflects my interest in biblical, mythological, and dream imagery. I admire Jungian analytical interpretations of personal and cultural narratives and intend my own work to effect a similar multivalent and contemplative structure.
